Dry Lining, Plasterboarding / Dot & Dab

dot-dabPlasterboards can be fixed by either using an adhesive and a ‘dot & dab’ method or ‘tacked’ to timber studs, ceiling joists etc. Once in place the boards are tapped flat and plum with a spirit level. This stage of the process gives you the chance to greatly improve the insulative qualities of your property with the specialist range of plasterboards available & insulation products fitted behind or above the boards. All joints on both applications are reinforced with a fibre scrim tape to prevent cracking beads applied where necessary and the same quality skim finish applied.

Float & Set New Walls

Float & Set is a more traditional alternative to Dot & Dab, often preferred in kitchens and bathrooms or older buildings where plasterboard lined walls are less appropriate to the properties character.

Using either sand and cement or a bagged backing plaster an even coat is applied to the block or brick work. Using feather edges the backing coat will then be ruled flat. After keying the surface and allowing sufficient setting time 2 skim coats are applied to leave a smooth finish.

Skimming

Plaster skimming is a common method of providing a smooth, seamless surface ready to receive the final decorative treatment. Plaster is applied to the wall or ceiling surface to a nominal 3mm thickness. Plasterboards, existing painted walls & artex can all receive a plaster skim coat. Usually we apply a PVA coating to the surface, then a final skim coat of plaster to leave a smooth finish.

Artex Ceilings & Walls – “Back To Flat”

Would you like to get rid of your textured artexed wall or ceiling and have a smooth flat finish? The process involves scraping down the artex to remove the worst of the texture, we then apply PVA adhesive base coat and finally a top skim coat of plaster to create a smooth, flat finish.
